Choose colors that reflect your personality and style, and don’t be afraid to select bolder hues. Darker, more vibrant colors work well, especially for accent walls or rooms that could use some drama, like your guest bath.

The first step when updating any patio or deck is to remove all items from the area; this includes furniture, planters and even the weathered layer of grime that sits atop the wood . Use a power washer to really removeany mildew and debris. By starting with a clean surface, you’ll be able to see the current state of the wood. If the stain is faded or wearing away, consider re-staining it. Wood exposed to the outdoor elements should be coated with an oil-based finish, never a latex or acrylic paint. You can create whatever atmosphere you prefer. Solar lamps are a smart, energy-efficient way to light the walk and seating areas, while Chinese lanterns hanging in the trees create a fun, party feel.

Lights lining railing walkways will direct attendees to and from the gathering areas safely, and an enclosed bonfire pit or portable fireplace is a great way to gather people for post-dinner carousing. Sufficient lighting will encourage guests to stay past dark and allow everyone to enjoy a warm summer evening.

On the move? Use these packing tips and tricks

(BPT) – Let’s face it – moving is hard. Along with the stress of leaving a familiar place and adapting to new surroundings, moving means packing, loading, transporting, unloading and unpacking everything you own – as well as everything you forgot you owned.

While relocation may never be completely carefree, there are ways to ease the anxiety. A well-thought-out approach to boxing up belongings can help simplify the moving process and bring you one step closer to making your new house a home.

* Box it up. To be prepared for packing, seek out a large quantity of clean, sturdy containers in a variety of shapes and sizes. When selecting boxes, you may choose to purchase new ones, helping to ensure they can withstand the rigors of moving. You can also purchase dividers, which come in handy for packing glasses and other small, fragile items. No matter what you are using, remember not to over-pack. As a general rule, heavier items should be placed into smaller

boxes to avoid too much strain on the box (and your back).

* Leave it. The easiest packing is no packing at all. Moving is the perfect time to clear the clutter out of your life. Before boxing up your belongings, decide what to keep. Dangerous home buying pitfalls…Myths Revealed!

Having been a full-time professional Realtor® for over 25 years,  I have seen many home buyers get wrong advice and basically end up completely stressed out, disappointed and upset because they didn’t make the right decisions.

I hope that by outlining some key points below, you will benefit from my many years of experience and as a result, end up  having a smooth and rewarding home buying experience!

Unless you completely luck out when you call on a home and get that 1 great agent out of hundreds…you better do your homework!

The complexities of today’s home buying processes should not be taken lightly and quite frankly, the captain at the helm of your ship needs to have many years of experience and be HIGHLY QUALIFIED. Anything less than that and your ship may just sink before you pull into port.

So, select your agent wisely! I have been selling homes for many years in communities from Dearborn, Canton, Plymouth, Northville and Novi to downriver communities like Allen Park, Southgate and Taylor Michigan (and many communities in-between). I feel that I’am “highly qualified” and have the knowledge and expertise you’ll need throughout your home buying process.
